After a loss
After a loss has taken place, the most important thing you can do is make sure you and your
family are safe. Next, protect your property from further damage by making reasonable and
temporary repairs, this can include but not limited to:
emergency board-up of windows and/or doors
repair plumbing leaks
emergency roof covering
Keep all receipts and invoices for your local claims representative to review. Now that you and
the property are safe and secure, you can begin to evaluate the damage.
Compiling a list of the stolen and/or damaged items, you can help your claims representative in
the recovery process. Here are some examples of information that would be helpful:
